Linda Dusman, DMA | Co-Founder
Dr. Linda Dusman’s creative output balances innovative undergraduate teaching with composition, exploring the richness of contemporary life from the personal to the political. She recently received a grant from the Maryland Innovation Initiative to develop the use of tablet technologies as a real-time teaching tool in concert settings. Her solo CD I need no words contains sonic reflections on a variety of texts, from Joan Retallack to Emily Dickinson. Thundersnow, a piano trio, was premiered by Trio des Alpes in Italy in 2014. Dr. Dusman has received music awards from the International Alliance for Women in Music, the State of Maryland, and the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, among others. Her compositions are published and recorded by NEUMA Records and Publications, as well as the Capstone Records and Albany Records. Dr. Dusman is a Professor of Music at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Eric Smallwood, MFA | Co-Founder
As a visual artist and educator, Eric Smallwood’s creative practice utilizes animation, video, and installation art, in exploring the relationship between biology, art and memory. His personal works have been exhibited regionally, and he has contributed professionally to many unique research collaborations with partners such as the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Walters Art Museum, the Maryland Historical Society, the National Science and Engineering Festival, Maryland Public Television, and NASA. As a recipient of a Maryland Innovation Initiative grant in 2014, he has been developing Octava as a real-time concert companion and music education app. Specializing in the areas of 3D animation, interactive design, and production, he currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Animation and Interactive Media at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Chris D. Geddes, PhD., FRSC, FInstP| Business Coordinator
Dr. Chris D. Geddes is a full professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and serves as a business consultant for Octava. He has commercialized hundreds of products and has created numerous companies with a combined enterprise value in excess of $100 million dollars to date. Dr. Geddes has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers and 40 books, and holds more than 100 worldwide patents.
Anjan Shah, MBA, PMP | Marketing Director
Anjan Shah is a strategic leader with more than 20 years of marketing experience with global multimilliion-dollar organizations. He has directed large and small teams to optimal performance and exceptional corporate profits. Anjan has an extensive background in marketing in B2C, B2B, and B2G environments within diverse industries, including technology, retail, defense, and aerospace, as well as the entertainment sector. He has provided marketing leadership for brands such as IKEA, YAMAHA, Avon Protection, and Music & Arts, to name a few. Anjan has served in the US Marine Corps as well as the US Army in various team and leadership capacities.
Erin Snedecor, MM | Marketing Manager
Erin Snedecor is a multi-genre cellist based in Washington, DC who specializes in contemporary performance, improvisation, and collaborative art. Her work across these genres has lead her to create many of her own ensembles, where she acts as founder, composer, booking agent, and beyond. Her current projects include her indie/folk duo Black
Rhinoceros, rock band Pompeii Graffiti, indie/folk duo Black Rhinoceros, classical electronica quartet Doublespeak, and contemporary chamber ensemble Balance Campaign.
